Palliative care is a medical specialty that focuses on pain, symptom and stress management for patients with life limiting illness. Like hospice care, palliative care focuses on the quality of life for the patients and their family. Palliative care, which can be a component of hospice care, can be used as a separate area of medical practice while the patient is receiving treatment.

Our palliative care program can help with a serious illness at any stage of the disease process.  It is not unusual for a patient with a serious illness, which is ultimately cured, to have been cared for by a palliative care team.
